Advocating for At-risk Youth Development

Advocating for youth development, Urban Education Solutions (aka ueSolutions) is an education-based program developer / consultant, with a primary focus on at-risk youth and urban communities.

Why at-risk youth? Studies show that more than 1 million young people drop out of school before graduation each year. It has been reported that the effect that this at-risk youth problem has on America can last for generations, placing a substantial financial drain of the Country .

Evidence suggests that this problem is symptomatic of the financial disparity that exists between poor communities and more affluent communities. "The haves and the have nots" as it were. For example,

Public school buildings in need of repair exists in greater numbers in poor communities than in more affluent communities.
Teachers in poor communities are generally paid less than those in more affluent communities.
Text books in poor communities tend to be more outdated and/or otherwise in need of repair than those in more affluent communities.

All of which contributes to a general sense of hopelessness that exists in poor communities.

Thinking outside of the box, ueSolutions makes use of various technologies as tools in accomplishing its objectives to advocate for at-risk youth in three basic ways, by

Developing programs designed for at-risk and other youth.
Consulting with organizations engaged in program development for at-risk youth, and
Representing other program and product developers in the promotion of their programs and products.

Applying the "It takes a village" concept, ueSolutions seeks collaborations with local organizations that are already engaged in work that helps America's youth, wherever possible. In many cases, we have found that collaborations that combine technology (e.g., CareerDots) and the traditional approaches (e.g., career counseling) is the best way to help youth get on the path to success in life.
