July 8, 2008, Sam Harrell was invited by Ms. Eloise Gentry, President/CEO of the Urban League of Northwest Indiana (ULNWI) to introduce the Bricks-n-Books Project to the League's Board of Directors. Subsequent to his presentation, a motion was pasted by the Board to have the program reviewed by the ULNWI's Economic Development Committee. The objective; to consider a "Pilot" program partnership between the ULNWI and the National Bricks-n-Books Project, Inc. in the Fall of 2008.

April 2008, UES forms the National Bricks-n-Books Project 501 (c)(3) Non-profit organization to deploy the Bricks-n-Books Project nationwide in partnership with local community-based organizations.

SUMMARY | OVERVIEW

July 2007, the Board of Directors of the Urban League of Northwest Indiana (ULNWI) approves UES as its authorized organization representative in pursuit of the YouthBuild grant, sponsored by the Department of Labor.

January 2007, National Urban League invited Mr. Harrell to make a presentation to the presidents/CEOs of its 100+ affiliates about the UES Supplemental Education Services (SES) program, which was successfully deployed in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2004, in partnership with the Urban League of the Pikes Peak Regions. Since that time, the program, then named the Ricotta Opportunity Center (ROC), now named the Urban League Learning center, went on to serve the two largest school districts in Colorado, Colorado Springs (District-11) and Denver (D-1), Colorado.
